EFT And Tapping Your Troubles
The emotional freedom technique works by tapping at the points that are at either end of the meridians or energy channels in the body. This way, blockages of energy are freed and the energy can flow freely again.
Sore Spots
There is one other point which you should know about in the emotional freedom technique. Its a special point and a little different to the tapping points, so let us deal with that one first its the Sore Spot. You have two of these sore spots we all do. They are situated in your upper chest and heres how to find them. Touch your fingers to your throat and move them down until you feel a u-shaped indentation. Then move down another three inches towards your navel and move three inches to either your left or right side (it doesnt matter which side). Press around in that area until you find your sore spot.
This is the place where you should rub, not tap as you repeat your affirmation sentence connected to what it is that you wish to change or relieve See? I told you it was special!
Theres real science behind it too. This spot become sore because this is where lymphatic congestion occurs. Dont worry, rubbing here does not hurt as such and after rubbing a few times the congestion goes away so you do not feel soreness at all. Thats another benefit of the emotional freedom technique.
Instead of the Sore Spot you could use the Karat Chop point.
Karate Chop Point
This one should be tapped. It is not quite as effective as the Sore Spot, but it can be used if you have a chest problem or have had an operation around the Sore Spot, for instance.
Your Karate Chop point should be found on your non-dominant hand so it is tapped with two fingers of your dominant hand. You find it in the middle of the fleshy bit of your hand between the base of your little finger and your wrist.
How To Tap
These points should all be tapped with your first two fingers, so you get most coverage and control. Tap firmly but not painfully. You need to tap each point about seven times whilst you repeat your reminder phrase about what positive change you are going to make in yourself.
Most of the tapping points can be found in either side of your body and matter if you switch sides during your EFT tapping sequence.
Now Lets Find The Rest Of Your Tapping Points
You are going to tap at the points near one end of each of your meridians, where the meridian is close to the surface of the body and therefore more easily accessible. Start your tapping on your eyebrow, near your nose; next, tap near the outer corner of your eye where you can feel your bone; move to your bone under your eye now, tapping it in the middle; from there, move to the point under your nose in the middle and tap there again seven times, as always; next tap the fleshy part of your chin, midway between the end of your chin and your lower lip; next tap a point just below your collar bone, near the u shaped indentation you found before; move down to under your arm now about a hands width down from your armpit, and tap there; now move in on the chest and tap a point below the nipple on men and in women where the flesh of the breast meets the chest wall.
Thats it for the body; now you need to move to the non-dominant hand. Tap (seven times as always) on the outside edge of the thumb near the thumbnail; tap seven times on each of your fingers in turn now, always on the same point at the outside edge of the finger near the nail. Lastly, tap your karate chop point which you found earlier.
Youre not quite done yet, though. Now you need to perform the Gamut Procedure, with its associated tapping.
The Gamut Point
This is found on the back of your hand, about half-way between the base of your little finger and your wrist. You should tap this as you go through the Gamut Procedure.
Gamut Procedure
This is meant to fine tune your brain through eye movements, counting and humming. It looks a bit weird but I promise you its worth it for the added benefits within your emotional freedom therapy. Tap all the while you are performing the following nine actions:
Close your eyes.
Open your eyes
Look to the bottom right corners of your eyes as far as you can.
Look to the bottom left corners of your eyes as far as you can.
Roll your eyes clockwise.
Roll your eyes anti-clockwise.
Hum 2 seconds of a song (such as Happy Birthday)
Count quickly from 1 to 5.
Hum 2 seconds of the song again.
This sequence is important for the added power with which it infuses your emotional freedom therapy, so it is really worth memorizing. Oh and dont forget to use your affirmations and your statement of what you are going change thats pretty important too!
