The Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) has been used for some time for both physical and emotional issues. Many people use EFT to treat long term addictions or depression, while others can overcome phobias or self esteem problems. EFT involves tapping various acupressure points on the body, where energy meridians begin and end. During this tapping, the person repeats a positive affirmation about the issue they are treating.

EFT can also be useful for individuals who perform, such as athletes or musicians. A lot of performers find that EFT can take away anxiety, and help them relax during the performance. As a result, their performances are more successful, because they can focus on how they are doing rather than on the crowd or other factors. EFT also has long term benefits; sometimes a few rounds of tapping can completely clear the problem.

Many people hate public speaking it is often feared more than serious injury or death! The idea of standing up before a large crowd is terrifying almost everyone. By doing EFT tapping and repeating an affirmation like Even though I am really scared of public speaking, I like and accept myself fully. You can start by EFT tapping the negative thoughts: I am afraid everyone will laugh at me, or I am worried that I’ll forget my speech. Then, positive affirmations can be added, and the thought process can actually be changed. So, instead of feeling anxious and agitated about an upcoming speech, you can feel calmer and more prepared.

Some people have a performance block, which stops them from achieving their goals. Even though there may be no truth to the belief that you are a terrible singer or are bad at Mathematics, but if you perceive this to be true it can be a self-fulfilling prophecy. You can utilize EFT tapping to rid yourself of these beliefs. By following your negative thoughts with a positive thought, your mind will begin to think differently, and you will see yourself as someone who is a great singer, or is completely competent with numbers. Teachers and school counsellors are also seeing the benefits of EFT therapy: they use these techniques on students to assist with positive learning.

EFT can even improve performances, with just a few tapping sessions! A shy singer can tell him- or herself that it’s alright to take a risk, and begin to open their voice with breathing and relaxation techniques, combined with EFT tapping and affirmations. A golfer who uses EFT to tap away lower back pain or a faulty swing can find that there is a big improvement in golf scores! Sports injury specialists are even starting to use EFT, as they find that it is very effective in treating muscle soreness, stiffness, and healing injuries.

Using EFT, we can overcome past barriers and release these emotions to create an open and joyful environment for your talents and skills to shine. Whether you want to clear writer’s block, reduce anxiety during a speech, or train for a marathon, EFT can help you realize your goals.
