Emotional Freedom Technique and Thought Field Therapy work on similar principles. However, Thought Field Therapy is perhaps a little more difficult to master because its tapping routines are all different, not the one routine that you need to remember in EFT.

The healing from Emotional Freedom Technique also does not rely on muscle testing in the way that Thought Field Therapy does. For the uninitiated, diagnostic muscle testing tests muscle strength, to find any weaknesses while the client thinks of the problem they are experiencing. It is presumed that there will be a weakness in a certain muscle accompanied with these thoughts and that will illustrate what area should be tapped in thought field therapy.

Effective use of Thought Field Therapy relies on proper diagnosis of a problem, so that the correct algorithm can be tapped; this is not a difficulty which one has with the emotional freedom technique which is a more holistic approach. In the Emotional Freedom Technique, the same tapping routine is used for whatever it is you are healing. This is because the Emotional Freedom Technique is a holistic approach which believes in the efficacy of freeing up the energy levels throughout the whole body so that the energy can flow unimpeded along all the meridians. The only real order of tapping sequence in the Emotional Freedom Technique is to tap downwards along the meridians.

The muscle testing in Thought Field Therapy is not easy, which means that unlike the Emotional Freedom Technique, Thought Field Therapy is not really a viable alternative for lay people and beginners, which lessens its power as well as its popularity. Even if you go to a professional for a healing therapy of the Emotional Freedom Technique, you can top up and reinforce this powerful therapy between sessions yourself quite easily, which is likely to make it more effective.

The muscle testing of Thought Field Therapy basically uncovers the fourteen or meridians (points) that the Emotional Freedom Technique finds automatically. Its true that if the muscle testing quickly uncovers an energy blockage then fewer meridians have to be tapped, but this can be problematic in itself: there is usually a blockage in more than one meridian, and also, muscle testing can be so complex and time-consuming that by the time it has diagnosed an energy blockage you could have easily completed the whole of the holistic Emotional Freedom Technique tapping routine. There doesnt seem much to gain in that – does there?

People dont always know what the problem is, and sometimes, the problem is a genuinely imprecise collection of emotions and symptoms which manifest themselves differently between individuals. Take grief, for example. No two people experience grief in exactly the same way, so how could it be that there is a precise tapping routine to heal grief?

What you get with the Emotional Freedom Technique is a holistic approach to getting your energy flowing through your whole body to its optimum levels. You ought to be able to heal anything in this way, as well as increase your overall well-being and mental performance. It does not take a specialist diagnosis and you increase your chances of success by treating the body and mind holistically through the emotional freedom technique.
